The selfishness in this country is getting out of hand. Many of us donate to local charities and feel like we are doing our part but doesn’t that go out of the window when we criticize people who are less fortunate. If this sounds as if it is coming from a personal place, then maybe it should. Maybe we should all start picturing ourselves in the shoes of others.
Recently, I visited a message board and found people criticizing people who use food stamps and people who beg for food and it made me wonder. What are you doing? What are you doing that is so much better than what they are doing? Many of you would say working but many people on food stamps also have jobs. So what is left, begging? Many of those people have fallen on hard times that you cannot fathom. They need your support not your criticism. If you could also provide some education, that would be worth more money than you could ever imagine. I know you are asking how to educate a complete stranger and I must admit its by first educating yourself.
For many of my faithful followers, you have learned that you can work from home legitimately. If someone walked up to you off the street and told you that a few months back, you would be a skeptic. Now that you know its possible, you are able to go forth and find work. Many of you did not know me, but you learned. Now its time to learn something else. Its time you learned that you can feed a family for five dollars or less. You can not only feed a family, but you can feed your family, a neighbor, and possibly even a family in need.
My challenge to my readers and my blogging buddies is to attempt to feed a family (your family, a neighbor, or a family in need) with only $5.
To show you that it can be done, I happily failed this weekend. I went to Kroger and purchased 4 boxes of Post cereal using two $1 off 2 and a $3 catalina that printed when I bought cereal for my family earlier this week. My total was $0.59 on the first transaction. I had five $1 bills so I used one for each transaction. I did not spend $5 so I failed and I came away with another $3 catalina and $2.05 in change. I failed and I am proud!
Once my kiddos and I were done buying 20 boxes of cereal, we thought we would write a few Thank You notes to stick to the boxes saying thanks for letting breakfast be on us for change! We visited Walgreens and grabbed a few pens and highlighters to attach to the boxes $5.14!
You can not only feed a family, but you can also help them write so the next time you criticize someone for something they don’t know about, think about all the things you don’t know until you learn.

Good job done, keep up the message
Awesome I Love it! We really needed to be reminded and we need to be reminded to teach our kids, or it’s going to get worse.
Thanks, Tamona, Great Job!
Good post. I love to see sharing when we get good deals on food or stuff, or sharing with others how to cook inexpensively from whole foods.
Hi Tamona, I wanted to share with you some of my shopping tips. First I live in a very small town about an hour south of St Louis. We don’t have a walmart in this town but we have a large grocery store (Country Mart) and a sav-a-lot. The nearest Walmart is 30 minutes away. I belong to Dian’s website and check it several times aday. I get coupons from my hubby’s sunday paper and a friend throws us extra coupons too. I also have quite a few people at church who bring me coupons Sunday mornings. I shop wednesdays at Country mart they double coupons up to 50c and Sav-a-lot has printable coupons on their website too. About 35 miles away is Shop n Save. They do not double coupons but they offer coupon thursdays. You spend $50 (before you hand the manufacturers coupons) and they take off $10 instantly at the register. Walmart has a price match and I also shop at Goodwill and Salvation army thrift store and sometimes I get last years clothes from Old navy, target and walmart from those stores with the original tags still on them at a huge discount. I am a stay at home mom and my husband is a swing manager at our local mcdonalds. He works alot and we still get food stamps but I add up all the money I save with coupons at the end of the month and save part of it and part of it goes to the food pantry at our church. I also volunteer at the food pantry at our our church. I used to try and sell my kid’s clothes, toys and other goods to consignment shops but then I started giving all my gently used and goods to our local clothes closet and guess what, I get blessed in return.
Amazing Grace, the Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures, He will my shield and portion be, as long as life endures. God bless you and your readers!
April
April, you are a true inspiration. My son asked me where people to go to donate stuff and I told him they go to the same places we go to (churches, schools, etc.). Then he asked me why there aren’t a lot of cars in the parking lot like at the stores when you buy stuff. That was mind blowing for me! It made me look around and wonder why also. We can do so much for others and it will take so little to do it. You are a true inspiration and I am so thankful for your post, you are amazing!
I am not amazing, God is amazing. It is amazing how he can work miracles through any one of us if we just stop, pray and listen for the voice of God. It really is true that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. It is very sad how this “Gimme mine first” mentality has taken over. The Takers are outnumbering the Givers. I give God the glory and I thank him everyday and I teach my children to thank him everyday and several times a day. God says we have to Love everyone. We don’t have to agree with them. We don’t have to support their beliefs if they are different from ours but we HAVE to love them. You don’t have to like someone to show them compassion and God’s Love. And I truly believe that whatever random acts of kindness you show, no matter how small, you will be blessed tenfold, a hundred fold, a thousand fold in return.
Fantastic job!!! I am a big coupon/sale/deal shopper and don’t like paying more than I have to for anything either.
great post !! sometime we just need a reminder !
Been there and done that thank goodness for sales and coupons!

Hi Tamona, I am so excited. I visited a farmers market yesterday. They have much better looking fruit and veggies that most grocery stores and lots of organic and they accept food stamp cards. So Please let people know that they can find great fresh food and with point of sale machines. God bless everyone.
